Chillers

Chiller Setup

Getting your chiller set up is quick and easy. Follow these steps to install it properly and start enjoying your ice baths!

What You'll Need:

Step-by-Step Installation:

  1. Unbox Your Chiller & Plumbing Kit
  2. Wrap the included teflon tape around chiller inlet and outlet ports, thread on female camlock fittings onto the chiller ports. Tighten till snug.
  3. Apply teflon tape to water pump and 3/4" male to male fitting. Thread water pump into the port labeled OUT Pump SIde on the water filter housing and then thread 3/4" male to male fitting into the other port on the water filter housing labeled IN Pipe Side.
  4. The chiller plumbing package will come with 3/4" & 1/2" NPT and BSP fittings to connect to most tubs. Find which fitting fits your tub, wrap teflon tape around fitting if applicable and thread onto your tub.
  5. Lastly, connect the preassembled hose assemblies based on the labels each bag has. For example, the hose assembly in the bag labeled Chiller Outlet to Tub Inlet connects from chiller outlet to the tub inlet port.

Start filling your tub up. Once tub is about 50% full, ensure all red handled shutoff valves are open and the air valve on top of water filter is open. Once water start coming out the top of water filter valve close it, plug pump into back of chiller and turn the chiller on. Continue to fill up to your desired level.

That's it! In a few hours you will have cold water and ready to plunge!

How much space should be around Chillers

Proper spacing is key to keeping your chiller running smoothly. We recommend leaving at least 24 inches of clearance behind the chiller and 8 to 10 inches on each side.

Without enough space for airflow, the unit can overheat, which may lead to performance issues, early failure and could void your warranty. Make sure your setup allows for open space around the chiller so it can do its job efficiently.

How to connect chiller to Wi-Fi

Connecting your chiller to the app lets you control your chillers temperature, timer and other settings. All from your Apple or Android phone.

Please note chillers before 8/1/25 do not have Wi-Fi function

Quick Steps

  1. Scan the QR code included in the Wi-Fi Connection Guide to download Tuya Smart App
  2. Power on the chiller
  3. Press and hold the UP button for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi icon starts blinking.
  4. Make sure your phone is connected to 2.4G Wi-Fi network. Open Tuya Smart app on your phone.
  5. Find your chiller in the app and tap connect, enter your network Wi-Fi password.

Once connected you can control your chiller from the app.

Is the chiller compatible with the Complete DIY Cold Plunge Kit

Absolutely!

How do I keep my water clean

We recommend changing your water filter once a month. While the cold plunge water filter helps filter out sediment you will still need to sanitize the water. We recommend using ozone to sanitize the water.

Our InlineO3 Ozone Generator Bundle easily integrates into all of our chillers plumbing and any tub that has a 3/4" NPT inlet port. Simply add to your setup and run for two hours twice daily and your water will remain crystal clear for months.

How Often Do I need to run ozone?

We recommend running ozone for two hours twice daily when you are not using the tub. We suggest putting the ozone generator on a timer outlet like this one. This allows the ozone to work on a schedule which allows you to set it and forget it.

If the sides or bottom of your floor start feeling slimy we suggest increasing to 3 hours twice daily.

How do I make a return

Insulating your stock tank for a cold plunge is highly recommended, though not strictly necessary, depending on your setup and climate. Here’s why insulation can be beneficial:

Benefits of Insulating

Temperature Retention

  • Insulation helps maintain the cold water temperature for longer periods, reducing the amount of energy needed to keep the water cold.
  • It’s especially useful if you’re using a chiller, as insulation minimizes heat exchange with the surrounding air.

Reduced Water Replacements

  • When your water stays colder longer, you won’t need to replace it as often, especially during warmer months, saving both time and money.

Consistency

  • Insulation helps keep the temperature consistent, even in fluctuating weather. This is crucial if you’re aiming for a specific cold temperature range.

Cost Efficiency

  • If you’re using a chiller or adding ice, insulation can reduce the energy required to keep the water cold, which can lower your costs.

When You Might Not Need Insulation

  • If you live in a consistently cold climate where the ambient temperature naturally keeps your water cold, you might not need insulation.
  • For short-term use (1-2 days), insulation is less critical, but for long-term setups, it makes a significant difference in maintaining the ideal cold plunge experience.

At Plunge Crafters, we offer insulated stock tank covers, which can also help reduce heat exchange and keep the water cleaner by preventing debris from entering the tank.
